Positano- known as the pearl of the Amalfi Coast, is a small yet very famous tourist town. Positano can rightfully be called one of the
most picturesque towns on the Campania coast.  The main part of the town is set on a mountain leading down to the sea. It was a
prosperous port in the 16th and 17th centuries and started attracting tourists during the 1950's.  It has become a very popular tourist
attraction and has been featured in films such as
Only You and Underneath the Tuscan Sun. The town is embroidered by the narrow
and often winding lanes and steps which cross it and is dominated by the splendid dome covered in polychrome majolica of the church
of San. Maria Assunta. You can find many small streets with hundreds of boutiques. The famous American author John Steinback talks
about Positano in his essay stating "it is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you
have gone."
Amalfi- set between the mountains and the sea, the larges town on the coast was formerly one of the Mediterranean's sea powers.
It was the capital of The Maritime Republic of Amalfi, and was a very important trading power in the Mediterranean between 839 and
around 1200.The famous duomo dominates the main square with large flights of stairs where you will find many foreigners that are
getting married.  Along this pedestrian street are various bars and cafés, not to mention the many shops selling limoncello, clothing,
swim wear, gifts, groceries and ceramics.
Towns We Visit
Ravello- is famous for its breath-taking views, natural beauty and ancient monuments as well as their Ravello Music Festival.
Ravello is located on the small escarpment of Monte Lattari and is set amidst vast semi-tropical gardens and overlooks, from 350
metres, the coast south towards the Gulf of Salerno, and the towns of Minori and Amalfi below.
Capri- is located 17 miles south of Naples and eight miles southwest of Sorrento and is accessible only by boat.
Capri's most famous sight is the Blue Grotta where the sunlight passes through an underwater cavity and shines through the
seawater, creating a marvelous blue reflection that illuminates the cavern.
About 8000 people live in Capri and 7000 in Anacapri.  Capri is located on the eastern side of the island, Marina Grande is
the port to the North and Marina Piccola to the South. Anacapri is on the western side of the island and is separated from
Capri by the slopes of Mount Solaro.
